PM Pushes for Community-Driven Data Collection System

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has emphasized the urgent need for a structured, participatory system to gather accurate data in the aftermath of the recent natural disaster. 

She stressed that reliable information is critical for restoring normalcy and guiding effective decision-making.

Speaking during a high-level discussion at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday, Dr. Amarasuriya highlighted that district and regional-level data collection frameworks must be established to ensure precision and transparency.

She further noted that data-driven decisions are essential for rebuilding efforts and called for awareness programs for local officials and citizens to strengthen understanding of the role of data in disaster management.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister and several senior officials.
