Excise Sergeant Arrested by CIABOC for Allegedly Demanding Rs. 2 Million Bribe

COLOMBO (News 1st); A Sergeant of the Anti-Narcotics Bureau of the Excise Department has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The suspect had allegedly inspected a local medicine production factory, accused it of illegally grinding cannabis using unauthorized machinery, and demanded a sum of 2 million rupees to refrain from taking legal action on the matter.

The suspect is scheduled to be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today.
