COLOMBO (News 1st): A high-level meeting took place at the Ministry of Health and Media between Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, focusing on urgent measures to reinforce Sri Lanka’s healthcare system in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah.
Discussions centered on strengthening hospital operations in disaster-hit provinces, ensuring uninterrupted treatment services, and addressing gaps in emergency healthcare delivery.
Minister Jayatissa also formally requested India’s assistance in donating essential medicines to meet the country’s immediate needs.
High Commissioner Santosh Jha reaffirmed India’s unwavering support for Sri Lanka’s relief and recovery efforts, pledging continued cooperation to ease the hardships faced by affected communities.
Adding momentum to these efforts, Lanka IOC contributed Rs 50 million to the Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund, while CEAT OHT Lanka donated Rs 8 million, and CEAT Kelani International added Rs 4 million.
These contributions aim to bolster healthcare services and accelerate recovery in cyclone-affected regions.
