COLOMBO (News 1st); Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced a comprehensive humanitarian relief operation for flood-affected communities in Sri Lanka, working in close coordination with the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
The NDMA confirmed that arrangements have been finalized for the immediate dispatch of 100 tons of essential relief supplies along with a 45-member Pakistan Army Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.
The relief package includes rescue boats, dewatering pumps, life jackets, and other critical life-saving equipment. Additionally, a mobile field hospital is being deployed to provide urgent medical care to those impacted by the floods.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Navy has also stepped in, with PNS Saif, currently docked at Colombo Port after participating in the International Fleet Review 2025, handing over humanitarian relief supplies to Sri Lankan authorities.
The aid package comprised food staples, Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), dry rations, first-aid kits, emergency medicines, and essential equipment to bolster ongoing national relief efforts.
This dual-pronged support—by land and sea—underscores Pakistan’s commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian assistance during Sri Lanka’s worst flood disaster in years.
