COLOMBO (News 1st); Landslides, floods, and earth slips have made it difficult to access several towns in many parts of the country.

News 1st correspondents report that almost all access routes to Nuwara Eliya remain blocked.

Several roads leading into the Hatton town are also obstructed.

The Road Development Authority states that due to the prevailing adverse weather, traffic remains disrupted on 122 roads across the island.

Efforts are currently underway to restore normal traffic flow on these affected routes.

Meanwhile, the Kandy–Katugastota–Galagedara–Kurunegala road, which had been closed, was reopened for vehicular movement yesterday.

The road had been blocked at ten locations due to landslides.

According to the Road Development Authority, vehicles are now permitted to travel through a single lane at those sections.

Access routes to the Kandy city had been completely closed for two days as a result of landslides.

Meanwhile, the Railway Department announced that train operations remain limited today as well.
