Indian Disaster Relief Teams Arrive With Aid

COLOMBO (News 1st);An Indian National Disaster Relief Team arrived on the island this morning to assist those affected by the severe weather.

The team arrived on a special cargo aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force.

According to Air Force Media Spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, the team consists of 80 members.

The rescue teams have also brought specialised rescue equipment and specially trained dogs to search for missing persons.

Meanwhile, another aircraft carrying Indian aid for affected families also arrived this morning.

The Air Force stated that it brought a stock of essential items, including hygiene kits, donated by the Indian government.

A group of Indian Air Force officers, along with officials from the Indian High Commission, took part in the official handover of the aid provided by the Indian government.
