Defence Secretary Urges Immediate Evacuation From Red Alert Zones Amid State Of Emergency

COLOMBO (News 1st);Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Retd. Air Vice Marshall Sampath Thuyacontha, has urged people still in the Red Alert zones to evacuate immediately. 

In a special announcement by Thuyacontha, he advised people to evacuate as these zones have extreme high risk of landslides. 

Prior to this announcement, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, through a gazette extraordinary, declared a state of public emergency in the country.
