No More Scribbles! SLMC Demands Clear Prescriptions

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) has issued a strong reminder to all medical practitioners to strictly adhere to the official guidelines for writing and recommending prescriptions.

The SLMC revealed that complaints have been received from pharmacists and the public regarding unclear and illegible prescriptions issued by certain doctors. 

According to the Council, this lack of clarity has made it difficult to identify the correct medication, posing a serious threat to patient safety.

The SLMC emphasized that its Code of Professional Conduct includes detailed instructions on how prescriptions should be written and recommended. 

Failure to comply with these guidelines, the Council warned, will result in disciplinary action against the practitioners concerned.
