Speaker Chairs Security Meeting for Opposition MPs

COLOMBO (News 1st); A high-level discussion on the security of Opposition Members of Parliament was held this morning at the Parliament complex, chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The meeting was convened following a request by Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka, who earlier urged the Speaker to address concerns regarding the safety of Opposition legislators. 

In response, the Speaker invited Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya to participate in the talks.
