CID Nabs Three Suspects in Weligama PS Chairman Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st): Three suspects, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Lasantha Wickramasekara.

The arrests were made by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) during a special operation carried out in Kekirawa.

According to police, a sum of Rs. 1,265,000 in cash was found in the possession of the suspects.

The CID has also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used in the murder.

Investigations are ongoing to apprehend another suspect believed to be connected to the incident.

Meanwhile, the final rites for the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Lasantha Wickremesekara, will be held today, at the family burial grounds. 

Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Lasantha Wickremesekara was shot and killed on October 22.
