Adverse Weather Conditions Prevail: Six Spill Gates Opened in Deduru Oya

COLOMBO (News 1st); Irrigation engineers in charge of the Deduru Oya Reservoir said that six out of its eight spill gates have been opened. 

The rise in the water level is attributed to heavy rainfall in the Maguru Oya catchment areas. 

Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Unit of Kurunegala District Viraj Dissanayake advised the public in the low-lying areas of the Deduru Oya to remain vigilant. 

Meanehile, A tree has fallen onto a house in Kirimetitenna, Balangoda.

The tree reportedly fell due to the strong wind, but no one has been injured.
