COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court ordered the further remand of alleged drug kingpin “Loku Patty” and a shaman accused of aiding him, until October 31.
The order was issued when the case was taken up before Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama.
Loku Patty appeared before the court via Zoom, while the shaman, identified as Dinesh Kumar, was produced in person.
Officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court that investigations are being conducted under Section 54(A) of the Poisons, Opium and Dangerous Drugs Ordinance and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Investigators revealed that funds generated from narcotics trafficking were allegedly deposited into the shaman’s bank account.
The Magistrate stated that decisions on bail applications will be announced on October 31.
