COLOMBO (News 1st); Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake has filed a writ petition through his legal counsel before the Court of Appeal, requesting an order to prevent his arrest.

The petition names several respondents, including the Inspector General of Police and the Officer-in-Charge of the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters.

According to the petition, Wanninayake alleges that police are preparing to unlawfully arrest him in connection with an incident that occurred last Friday at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court premises.

The incident reportedly involves claims that he obstructed a police officer from performing official duties.
