Sri Lanka, BIMSTEC Deepen Regional Innovation Ties

COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath met with Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), for a productive discussion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on advancing regional cooperation under the BIMSTEC framework.

The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing BIMSTEC initiatives and explored new avenues to strengthen collaboration among member states. 

As the lead country for the Science, Technology and Innovation sector within BIMSTEC, Sri Lanka has made notable strides in key sub-sectors including technology, health, and human resource development.

Minister Herath reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to leveraging science, technology, and innovation to drive regional prosperity and resilience.
