COLOMBO (News 1st); The government will launch a National Campaign to Eliminate Drugs and Organized Crime on October 30 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala announced today in Kalutara.
The Minister said the initiative aims to eradicate the drug menace and dismantle organized criminal networks that have taken root in the country.
“This national movement is designed to remove the drug threat and the organized crime syndicates that have emerged through trafficking. We are committed to freeing those trapped in this cycle,” he stated.
The campaign will bring together all key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, local authorities, law enforcement agencies, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board, and other government institutions, in what the Minister described as a massive public movement.
“We have placed our hands on a mission to secure your future. No matter the challenges, we will not take a single step back,” he emphasized.
