COLOMBO(News 1st);Two people, including a woman, have been arrested for defrauding individuals by promising jobs abroad.
The arrests were made by officers of the Special Investigation Division of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.
The suspect had collected eight hundred thousand rupees from a woman, claiming she would be sent to work in a factory in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Foreign Employment Bureau stated that the suspect was arrested following a complaint filed by the woman after the promised job was not provided.
It was revealed that the suspect did not hold a valid license from the Bureau of Foreign Employment.
Meanwhile, another person who illegally conducted recruitment interviews for jobs in Kuwait at a well-known hotel in Kurunegala was also arrested.
The Foreign Employment Bureau advises the public to report any information about fraudulent foreign employment agencies or individuals by calling 0112 88 22 28.
