7,979 NCOs Promoted as Army Celebrates 76th Anniversary

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Army has granted promotions to 7,979 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in celebration of its 76th anniversary, the Army announced.

Army Spokesperson Brigadier Waruna Gamage stated that the promotions span ranks from Lance Corporal up to Warrant Officer.

The final ceremony of the anniversary celebrations, which began on October 8, will be held at the Panagoda Army Cantonment, under the patronage of Army Commander Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo.

Founded on October 10, 1949, the Sri Lanka Army has grown into a formidable force comprising 25 regiments.

Beyond its military role, the Army has played a pivotal part in ending the three-decade-long civil conflict and continues to serve the nation during natural disasters and national emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
