Police Investigate False Claims About Easter Attack Statement: Ravi Seneviratne Denies India Involvement

COLOMBO (News 1st); The police have launched an investigation into individuals spreading false information on social media, claiming that Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Ravi Seneviratne, made statements in a parliamentary committee regarding the Easter attack.

The Police Media Division says that the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security has also instructed his legal team to take appropriate legal action.

MP Nizam Kariyappar, who is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts, shared a message after a committee meeting, both on social media and via private WhatsApp messages, claiming that Ravi Seneviratne had made a certain statement.

Meanwhile, the Police Media Division issued a statement today noting that a false news report is circulating on social media, claiming that Ravi Seneviratne told the Parliamentary Committee on High Posts that the mastermind behind the Easter attack has been identified and is reportedly based in India.

In response, the Secretary of the Ministry to Public Security clarified in the official statement:
