Justice Ministry Additional Secretary Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested Sepalika Samankumari, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and National Integration, in connection with an alleged corruption case involving reparation payments.

According to CIABOC, the arrest relates to the approval of Rs. 8.5 million as compensation to Monaragala District MP Shasheendra Rajapaksa for damage to state property. At the time of the alleged incident, Samankumari served as the Acting Director General of the Office for Reparations.

Investigators claim that by approving the payment, the suspect facilitated officials of the Reparations Office to process the transaction, thereby committing offenses under the Bribery Act and the Public Property Act.
