Stock of Magazines and Equipment Found in Weheragala Reservoir to Be Produced in Court Today

COLOMBO (News 1st): A large stock of magazines and military equipment recovered from the Weheragala Reservoir in Kataragama is scheduled to be produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate’s Court today.

Police said that the discovery included 215 empty T-56 magazines, 39 empty LMG drum magazines, 11 empty MPMG-200 magazines, 9 MPMG-100 magazines, 6 T-81 magazines, and one empty 12.7mm aircraft destroyer drum.

The items were recovered during operations carried out by three naval diving teams in the Weheragala Reservoir.

Following the discovery, the Special Task Force (STF) conducted a two-day search operation in the Yala National Park area adjacent to the reservoir.

However, no additional items were found during the operations in the Yala National Park.
