Search Operations Continue for Weapons Dumped in Kataragama

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police say search operations will continue today to recover weapons dumped in the Weheragalla wewa in Kataragama.

Acting Police Media Spokesperson ASP Minura Senarath stated that divers will be deployed to carry out the search.

According to information provided by an Army Intelligence Officer, 74 empty T-56 magazines, 36 empty LMG magazines, and 5 empty MPMG drums were discovered in the lake yesterday.

The recovered items have been handed over to the GonaganAra Police.

ASP Senarath added that investigations are underway to determine who was responsible for bringing and dumping the weapons into the lake.
