Relief For State Sector Local Government Candidates

COLOMBO(News 1st); The Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Aloka Bandara, has issued a special circular providing relief to state sector employees who contested the local government elections that was to be held on 9th March 2023. 

According to the circular, state officials who take leave to contest in the elections will receive only their basic salary without deducting the leave period from their vacation leave balance.

The nomination papers submitted by state officials will be considered invalid and non-est.

The decision was made in accordance with the approval given by the Cabinet of Ministers on the 25th of this month.
