COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Sri Lankan government has approved the development of a Government Super App, a unified digital platform designed to provide citizens with seamless access to a wide range of government services.
The initiative aims to eliminate the fragmented and repetitive processes currently faced by the public when interacting with various government departments.
The app will consolidate services into a single mobile and web interface, enabling over 2 million service interactions annually for the country’s 14 million citizens aged 18 and above.
The Cabinet of Ministers has greenlit the project to be implemented in two phases between 2025 and 2026, with an allocated budget of Rs. 500 million.
The move is expected to prevent an estimated Rs. 500 million in economic losses caused by inefficiencies in the current system.
