Weather Alert: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Winds Across Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory indicating that showers or thundershowers will occur intermittently in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

Additionally, Eastern and Uva provinces and the Hambantota district are expected to experience showers or thundershowers after 1:00 PM.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in some areas within the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in Galle and Matara.

Winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the North-Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The general public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
