COLOMBO (News 1st); Trade unions affiliated with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have continued their work-to-rule campaign, protesting the government's ongoing restructuring process.
The action, which includes coordinated sick leave, began earlier this week and involves unions linked to opposition political parties, including the Engineers’ Association.
Their demands center on securing benefits and guarantees during the restructuring, which they claim have not been adequately addressed.
Prabath Priyantha, General Secretary of the CEB Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya, stated that if the government fails to respond to their demands by September 21, union members will withdraw from all restructuring committees.
The unions argue that the restructuring process must ensure fair treatment and compensation for employees, and have expressed strong opposition to the current reform plans.
