COLOMBO (News 1st); A fire that broke out last night at the Anawilundawa Wetland Sanctuary has been successfully brought under control.
The blaze began around 7:30 PM and quickly spread across a large area due to prevailing dry weather conditions.
The sanctuary, a Ramsar-listed wetland, is known for its rich biodiversity and ecological importance.
Firefighting teams from the Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha, Puttalam Municipal Council, and Chilaw Urban Council, along with local residents, worked through the night to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
