Sri Lanka Declares “Children’s Day National Week”

COLOMBO (News 1st);  The Sri Lankan government has declared a “Children’s Day National Week” from 25th September to 1st October 2025, in celebration of World Children’s Day, which falls on October 1st.

The initiative, themed “Aadarayen Surakinna – Apata Lowa Dinannata” (Protect Us with Love – To Win the World), will feature a series of national programmes aimed at promoting child welfare, protection, and empowerment.

These events will be organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Probation and Child Protection Services and other child-focused institutions.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, recognizing the importance of a dedicated week to raise awareness and mobilize support for children’s rights and well-being across the country.

The week-long celebration will culminate in a national commemoration ceremony on October 1st.
