COLOMBO (News 1st): An Indian national was arrested for attempting to smuggle a consignment of Kush Cannabis worth over Rs. 80 million into the country.
The suspect arrived at the Katunayake International Airport at around 9.45 a.m. yesterday (13th) and remained at the terminal ahead of his return to Madurai, India.
According to the Police Narcotics Bureau, officers grew suspicious of the suspect’s luggage, and a search conducted with a police K9 (Randy) led to the discovery of the drugs.
The consignment contained eight kilograms and 542 grams of Kush Cannabis.
The suspect, a 33-year-old resident of Chennai, is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
