Police Seize Weapons, Uniforms in Drug Investigation

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Special Task Force (STF) of the Sri Lanka Police on Monday (8) inspected a house located on the property in Middeniya where chemical substances linked to ice drug production were previously discovered.

During the operation, an 82-year-old suspect was taken into custody.

His arrest follows interrogations of organized crime suspects, including Kehelbaddara Padme, who were previously apprehended in Indonesia and brought to Sri Lanka.

Authorities recovered a significant cache of items from the premises, including:

3 police-branded T-shirts
2 police-style bottoms
1 piece of official police uniform fabric
2 batons
2 jungle belts
4 camouflage belts
1 magazine for a T56 assault rifle
1 barrel component of a 12-bore firearm
1 locally manufactured firearm compatible with T56 ammunition
1 functional component and barrel of a 12-bore weapon

Additionally, police discovered two sets of number plates—one for a motorcycle and another for a motor vehicle—hidden on the property.

The suspect is scheduled to be presented before the Walasmulla Magistrate's Court.
