Colombo (News 1st): In a heart-stopping interview, a survivor of the devastating Ella bus crash shared his harrowing experience, recounting the moments leading up to the accident and the chaos that followed.

"We left Tangalle at 3 am for a company trip to Nuwara Eliya," the survivor recalled, his voice trembling with emotion. "As we were returning in the evening, the driver warned us that the brakes weren't working. At first, we thought it was a joke, but when he repeated it at the second bend, we knew something was terribly wrong."

The survivor, who was sitting on the bonnet, described the terrifying moment when the bus collided with another vehicle and careened off the road. "I don't remember much after that," he said, with his voice cracking. "But I do remember being thrown out of the bus, hitting a tree, and falling down. I saw the bus tumbling further down, its parts breaking apart."

When the survivor regained consciousness, he were met with an eerie silence, punctuated only by the sound of a child crying. "I crawled towards the child and shouted for help," he recounted, eyes welling up with tears. "The STF arrived soon after, and I'm grateful to be alive."
