Police Net Third Suspect in Ex-Prison Chief’s Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st); A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the targeted shooting of a former prison superintendent near the Bolgoda Bridge, close to the Thunbodhiya junction in Bandaragama.

The arrest was made by officers from the Kalutara Crimes Division, who tracked down the suspect in the Hirana area of Panadura. 

The 23-year-old local resident was handed over to the Bandaragama Police for further questioning.

The incident, which occurred on the 21st of last month, sent shockwaves through the community. 

The victim was travelling in a car when two individuals on a motorcycle approached and opened fire, fatally wounding him in what police believe was a premeditated hit.

This latest arrest adds to the two suspects already in custody, as investigators continue to piece together the motive and network behind the killing.
