COLOMBO (News 1st);Former State Minister Shashendra Rajapaksa, accused of offences under the Public Property Act, was remanded until September 12 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today.
The case relates to an incident in which Rajapaksa allegedly pressured officials of a damaged office to obtain compensation of Rs. 885,000.
The payment followed the destruction of a building, including property, that had been illegally constructed on land in the Sevanagala area belonging to the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority during a previous conflict.
