COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of former prison officer Lalith Kumara Kodagoda, which occurred near Thunbodhiya Junction in Bandaragama.

The suspects, aged 20 and 21, are residents of Panadura and were taken into custody by the Kalutara Crimes Division before being handed over to the Bandaragama Police for further investigation.

Authorities suspect the duo provided logistical support to the gunmen, including transporting them to and from the scene using a motorcycle fitted with fake license plates. The motorcycle, along with a forged revenue license and an additional set of counterfeit number plates, has been seized by police.

Investigators believe the suspects played a direct role in facilitating the attack, which took place on the 21st of this month. Kodagoda, who was traveling in a car at the time, was fatally shot by two assailants who arrived on a motorcycle.
