COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power and Energy has officially called for expressions of interest (EOIs) from potential investors to expand the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery, Sri Lanka’s primary petroleum processing facility.
The proposed upgrade aims to increase the refinery’s capacity to 100,000 barrels per day, significantly enhancing the country’s ability to meet domestic fuel demand.
Established in 1969, the Sapugaskanda Refinery currently fulfills approximately 30% of Sri Lanka’s fuel requirements.
The deadline for submitting EOIs is set for September 26.
