COLOMBO (News 1st); In a bid to curb the smuggling of narcotics and unauthorized items into correctional facilities, the Prison Strike Force has launched a series of targeted search operations based on intelligence reports.
According to Prison Spokesperson Jagath Weerasinghe, these operations are being carried out with utmost caution to ensure the safety and security of inmates.
A recent search at the Angunakolapelessa Prison led to a shocking discovery—a vial of cyanide. The Department of Prisons has since launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Authorities revealed that the cyanide was found in the possession of an associate of a notorious drug trafficker known as "Kudu Salindu." The suspect has been identified as Tarindu Madhusanka, who is believed to be a close aide of the drug kingpin.
