COLOMBO (News 1st) - A committee has been appointed on the President’s instructions, under the supervision of the Attorney General’s Department, to make recommendations on two upcoming cyber security bills.
Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said the committee will review and recommend provisions for two planned institutions—one to address cyber security matters affecting national security, and another to oversee cyber security in public and private institutions.
The two draft bills, based on the committee’s recommendations, will empower and regulate these institutions.
The Deputy Minister noted that the government aims to pass the bills swiftly as part of its program to strengthen national cyber security.
