COLOMBO (News 1st); The government has decided to pass several key bills in Parliament ahead of the presentation of the upcoming budget.
Director of Legislative Services at Parliament, M. Jayalath, stated that this was revealed by Leader of the House, Minister Bimal Rathnayake, during the recent party leaders’ meeting.
Jayalath noted that one of the notable legislative proposals expected to be introduced includes a bill aimed at revoking privileges granted to former Presidents.
The first reading of the Dissolution Bill is scheduled to take place on October 3.
This year’s Budget Debate is scheduled to be held from November 6 to December 8.
