Colombo(News 1st); The Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha salary officer and a driver, arrested in connection with a financial fraud, have been remanded until the 22nd.
Police said the suspects were remanded after being produced before the Kalutara Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon.
The officer and the driver were arrested over a financial fraud involving more than ten million rupees during the payment of salaries to Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha employees.
The arrested individuals are a 45-year-old woman from the Bombuwala area in Kalutara and a 54-year-old driver from the Wadduwa area.
The arrests followed a lengthy investigation based on a complaint lodged by a Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha officer.
