Tragic Accidents In Colombo Port And Thanamalwila Claim Two Lives

Colombo(News 1st); A worker at the Colombo Port has died after being crushed by a container.

Police stated that the victim was the driver of a Prime Mover.

The accident took place when the Prime Mover he was driving collided with another container while loading, causing the container to fall on top of the vehicle.

The driver, who sustained serious injuries, died after being admitted to the National Hospital.

He was a 36-year-old resident of Dedigama.

The machine operator responsible for loading the container has been arrested on suspicion of causing the accident.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a four-year-old girl was killed and four others were injured when a three-wheeler traveling from Wellawaya to Thanamalwila crashed into a lorry parked on the roadside in Thanamalwila town.

The deceased child was a resident of Badulla.
