Police Probe Call from ‘Kehlebaddara Padme’ to Senior Cop

COLOMBO (News 1st), A formal investigation has been launched under the direction of the Director of the Western Province North Crimes Division into an alleged death threat made via phone by a notorious underworld figure known as Kehlebaddara Padme to Chief Inspector Linton Silva, the Officer-in-Charge of the division.

According to police, the incident came to light following the arrest of a 39-year-old suspect identified as Gampaha Deva, believed to be a close associate of Padme. He was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Unit at the Katunayake International Airport two days ago.

Following the arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Western Province North Crimes Division. 

Officers then conducted a search operation at a hotel premises in Kehlebaddara, where they discovered nine rounds of T-56 ammunition and 440 grams of heroin.

It is during this operation that Padme is alleged to have made a threatening phone call to Chief Inspector Silva, prompting immediate attention from law enforcement authorities.
