Two Elderly Women Murdered in Separate Attacks

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police are investigating two separate homicides involving elderly women, both aged 74, who were found murdered in their homes in Ratnapura and Wariyapola.

In the first incident, a woman was beaten and strangled inside her residence near Depot Junction, Ratnapura. 

Police have arrested her 26-year-old son-in-law on suspicion of involvement in the crime.

In a similar case reported from Randenigala, Wariyapola, another 74-year-old woman was found strangled to death in her home. 

A 32-year-old female suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the murder.
