Police Uncover Grenades, Ammo, and Drugs in Vavuniya Plot

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have uncovered a stockpile of explosives and narcotics buried in a plot of land in the Settikulam area of Vavuniya. 

The discovery includes 86 hand grenades, 326 rounds of T-56 ammunition, and 5,600 narcotic pills.

According to police sources, a 22-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Investigations revealed that the suspect is closely associated with another individual who was apprehended yesterday (21) in Kiribathgoda while in possession of a T-56 assault rifle.

Further inquiries have identified the Kiribathgoda suspect as a rehabilitated former member of the LTTE.

The latest operation in Settikulam was launched following intelligence gathered during interrogations of the Kiribathgoda suspect.
