Duminda Dissanayake Seeks Bail in High Court

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake, currently in remand custody over the discovery of a gold-colored T-56 assault rifle at a luxury housing complex in Wellawatte, has filed a bail application before the Colombo High Court.

The application was submitted in connection with the ongoing investigation into the firearm, which was found in May 2025 at the entrance of an apartment complex in Havelock Town.

Dissanayake was arrested on May 23.

The bail request was heard before High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne, who scheduled the next hearing for July 14, 2025, after reviewing submissions from both the prosecution and defense.
