CMC to Convene on Monday Amid Ongoing Talks Over Mayoral Post

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Municipal Council, which has drawn significant public attention, is scheduled to convene next Monday (16).

Several political parties held discussions yesterday at the Opposition Leader’s Office regarding the selection of the new Mayor.

Since no single political party secured a clear majority in the Colombo Municipal Council, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya stated that all opposition groups would join forces to establish control over the council.

However, they have not yet revealed who their mayoral candidate will be.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the United National Party also held discussions yesterday at the Opposition Leader’s Office to deliberate on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna also engaged in talks last night with the SJB and UNP regarding the establishment of power in the Colombo Municipal Council.
