Ex-Minister Chandrani Bandara Hit with 11 Corruption Charges

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed a case before the High Court today against former Minister of Women and Child Affairs and Dry Zone Development, Chandrani Bandara.

The charges relate to her tenure as minister, during which she is accused of violating proper procedures by influencing the appointment of H.M. Chandrawansa as Director of Dry Zone Development and facilitating the unlawful recruitment of several associates to various positions within the Dry Zone Development Project.

According to CIABOC, these actions were carried out between January 14 and January 31, 2019, and constitute offenses punishable under the Bribery Act. 

The case has been filed under 11 separate charges.
