PUCSL Reviews CEB Proposal for 18.3% Electricity Tariff Hike

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) says it is reviewing a proposal submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to revise electricity tariffs.

Following the review, the PUCSL is expected to prepare a counter-proposal.

Public consultation on the counter-proposal will begin on the 20th of May. Verbal and written public comments will be accepted from the 23rd, covering all nine provinces.

The PUCSL says that a final decision will be made after considering all proposals and public feedback.

The final decision on the electricity tariff revision is expected to be announced in the first or second week of June.

The CEB submitted its proposal to the PUCSL yesterday, recommending an 18.3% increase in electricity tariffs.
