17 Injured in Kotmale Van Crash: Mechanical Failure Suspected

COLOMBO (News 1st); A tragic accident in the Ramboda area of Kotmale has left 17 people injured, including seven children. 

The incident occurred when a van, returning from a recreational trip from Rajanganaya to Nuwara Eliya, veered off the road and collided with a mound of earth and a tree before plunging into a ravine.

Police suspect that a mechanical failure may have caused the accident.

The injured were promptly admitted to Kotmale Hospital, with several requiring further treatment at Gampola Hospital.

This accident happened just a few kilometres from the site of a recent bus accident that claimed 23 lives.
