Court Schedules Hearing for Ex-Welikada Cops

COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo High Court Judge R.S.S. Sapuwida has scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 21 in the case against three former officers of the Welikada Police, accused of assaulting and murdering R. Raja Kumari, a domestic worker.

During today's proceedings, the defense attorneys informed the court that they had not received certain documents relevant to the case. 

In response, Judge Sapuwida instructed the state counsel to promptly provide the requested documents to the defense.

The Attorney General has filed charges against the three officers, including a Sub-Inspector, in connection with the incident reported in 2023.
