Defamation Probe: Haloluwa Requests New Date to Face CID

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Director of the National Lotteries Board and former Public Relations Director General to former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Thusitha Halloluwa, has requested a new date to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The summons relates to an ongoing investigation into an allegedly defamatory and false statement made against President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The complaint was filed by a group of lawyers representing the National People’s Power, who urged the CID to launch an urgent investigation and initiate legal action. 

They allege that a statement made using the name of President Dissanayake could cause serious damage to his reputation.

Halloluwa was previously scheduled to appear at the CID today to provide a statement regarding the incident.
