COLOMBO (News 1st) – Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), issued a bold challenge to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, asserting that the SLPP is not afraid of political attacks.
Speaking from the stage, Rajapaksa declared that despite attempts to discredit and imprison SLPP members, the party remains steadfast in its commitment to the people.
Rajapaksa reminded the President that the supporters of SLPP, known as Pohottuwa, are loyal to Mahinda Rajapaksa. He emphasized that the SLPP is a party that has fought against terrorism and transformed Sri Lanka into one of Asia's fastest-developing nations.
Namal Rajapaksa on May Day delivered a passionate speech criticizing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) for abandoning the working people who helped them rise to power.
Rajapaksa accused the JVP of pursuing their own political agenda and forgetting the very people who supported them.
Rajapaksa defended SLPP's tax policies during challenging times, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said he was proud to state that the SLPP did not impose excessive taxes when people were struggling.
He highlighted his personal commitment to fighting for the people's cause, even at great personal cost.
As the nation heads into elections, Rajapaksa expressed concern about President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's government and vowed to fight for the acquittal and release of Mahinda Rajapaksa during the reign of the AKD administration.
